Microsoft Teams get new Features, allows up to 1000 participants in a call:

Microsoft announced a set of new features in Microsoft Teams that make virtual interactions more organic & engaging, supporting the global shift into a more hybrid model of work, learning, & life.

As part of this new upgrade, meeting organizers who want to have more people watch a presentation or discussion will soon be able to bring together up to 20, 000 participants at a go but for a view-only meeting experience.

And for where inactive meeting - Where to chat, unmute to talk and turn their videos for real-time collaboration teams are growing to support up to 1,000 participants, up from a maximum of 250 participants only.

Together Mode

Microsoft Teams has introduced Together mode which uses AI segmentation technology to place participants in a shared digital background, making it feel like everyone in the meeting or class is in the same room.

Together Mode will help users focus on other people’s faces and body language and is aimed at meetings in which many people will speak, such as brainstorming or roundtable discussions.

Microsoft Teams: Dynamic View

This includes Dynamic view – which will let users framework content and call participants side-by-side – as well as video filters to adjust lighting levels or soften the focus on your camera.

It has also extended the number of people you can have in a meeting up to 1000, while presentations can now have 20,000 participants watching.

Suggested replies, similar to the automated replies in email apps including Gmail, is coming to Microsoft Teams too, Cortana integration is being brought in to the mobile version of the app, giving the software usability via voice commands.

Users can ask Cortana to make a call, join meetings, share files, or send messages.

Video Filter

The third feature is the Video filters which allow users to subtly adjust lighting levels and soften the focus of the camera to customize their appearance.

Also introduced is the Reflect messaging extension which is based on research that shows that employee well-being is more important to productivity than ever.

Creating an emotionally supportive environment is key to keeping people healthy, happy, and focused.

Reflect Messaging Extension

The new Reflect messaging extension gives managers, leaders, and teachers an easy way to check in with how their team or students are feeling — either in general, or about a specific topic like work-life balance, the status of a project, current events, or a change within the organization.

IT administrators will be able to install the Reflect extension from GitHub, and then make it available to employees in their organization in the message extension menu.

Automatically generated meeting transcripts, and support for video meetings with up to 1,000 participants will also be touching down on Teams over the coming weeks & months.

Alongside Cortana support for Microsoft Teams mobile app.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Zoom usurped Microsoft with support for more meeting participants and a user-friendly interface.

Zoom also jumped out early with its free tier of service.

The provider with a meeting platform – including Avaya, Cisco, Google, & LogMeIn’s GoTo – has experienced exponential growth since the pandemic struck.

The number of Microsoft Teams users has grown at least quadrupled. By its most recent count in late April, there are 75 million Teams users.
