Instagram Expands Reels to India amid Tik Tok Ban - eReviewmaster

INSTAGRAM LAUNCHED TIK TOK LIKE SHORT VIDEO IN "REELS" FEATURE

The facebook-owned app will grow users to make 15-second videos.

After France, Germany, and Brazil and finally Instagram reels launched in India at today 7:30 pm, Wednesday. Facebook tested Instagram "Reels" features in India that allow the user to create a 15-sec video.

Tik Tok like clone functionality "Reels" to some users in India, following the ban of Tik Tok in the Indian Indian Market Reels, are then able to be shared and remixed.

While more recent additions will see Reels clips made available in dedicated spaces on both user-profiles and within the Explore tab.

Instagram recently made Reels available to users in France and Germany, after initially launching the option in Brazil last November.

Now, Indian users will also get access. Which makes a lot of sense.

As explained by Wired: "1.2 million Indian creators [have] turned to TikTok to express themselves, build a sprawling network of followers, and padding their bank accounts.

 On average, a category A influencer (with at least ten million followers) could charge up to Rs 3-4 Lakh ($4,000 to $5,300)."

Similar to TikTok, Reels provide options like audio from Instagram Music library, speed, effects, and timer. 

• Reels, Instagram has partnered with prominent music labels to provide a vast collection of songs to users to create interesting Reels and share with everyone. 

• After recording a Reel, users can simply choose the audience they wish to share their Reel with.

Unlike usual Instagram Stories, Reels can be shared in the Explore section and viewed by everyone on the platform. 

• Reels also provide various effects to help users add a unique touch to their videos. 15 seconds.

Reels can also be recorded at once and different effects can be added to each clip.

Reels can also be reviewed, deleted, and re-recorded if required. After recording a reel, users can simply choose the audience they wish their reel with.

Unlike Instagram stories reel can be shared in the explore section. The rule provides option audio from Instagram.

Tik Tok being banned in India due to rising tension between the Chinese government.

That leaves opportunity for both Instagram and YouTube to take Tik Tok's place in the market, and the cater rising popularity of short video in the region.

Are we able to innovate? Are we able to continuously test the ability to give new creative tools to creators, which is what we are doing with the testing of Reels on Instagram?

We do believe we have the opportunity to continuously raise the bar on innovation.

The new feature lets users create videos on the app, add creative filters and music and share it beyond their regular followers, said Vishal Shah, VP of Product, Facebook.

Reels are similar to TikTok and allow users to create 15 seconds video with popular songs, trends, or challenges.

Shah says the product comes from the realization that 45 per cent of videos on Instagram is 15 seconds or less. 

“We also realized that stories are not the only place where they wanted to share these videos as they wanted them to stick on for longer and be distributed beyond their followers,” he said in the video calls.

The new feature lets users shoot video, add filters and music from Instagram’s catalogue and share it beyond the platform. 

Users will be able to share Reels in Explore, and also on Feed with followers. There will be no monetization avenues for now.

How to create Instagram Reels?


• Select Reels at the bottom of the Instagram camera. 

• Click on the Audio option and search for a song from the Instagram music library for your Reel. 

• You can also use your original audio by simply recording a Reel with it just as TikTok. 

• You can add AR Effect to make your Reel interesting and different from others and also set the timer to record any of your clips hands-free. 

There’s also an option to speed up or slow down part of the video or audio.
